Our Lower School is housed in the Windsor Building, which was opened by HRH Prince Andrew in June 2006. Our sunny and spacious classrooms and our beautiful grounds provide the perfect learning environment in which each and every pupil can grow and blossom into unique, happy individuals.
We welcome children from the age of rising 3 into our lively Nursery. Our trained members of staff ensure that each child is given the best possible start to life. There is a warm family atmosphere, as we recognise how important it is for children to feel happy and secure. We place great emphasis on building a solid foundation of social skills and a love of learning, thus enabling each child to settle confidently into school life.
A wide variety of activities is planned to provide plenty of opportunities for healthy outdoor learning. We have a beautiful Forest School in the school grounds where our children are given the opportunity to develop a respect for the natural world and to begin honing their leadership skills.
Beyond Nursery, a class teacher remains at the core of each child’s learning. Emphasis is placed on establishing a firm foundation in literacy, numeracy and ICT, but the curriculum is broad with a range of educational visits and exciting extra-curricular activities planned to enrich and extend the children’s learning. Good use continues to be made of our glorious grounds as a learning resource.
Careful planning of the curriculum, continuous assessment and reporting ensure continuity and progression.
Specialist members of staff provide the teaching of French, Music, PE and Dance.
