Year 5 Trip to Hampton Court
Year 5 children were met with glorious sunshine, as they stepped back into Tudor history on their trip to Hampton Court Palace this week. They explored Henry VIII’s apartments and were treated to a guided tour of the vast kitchens, where they were met with the smell of woodsmoke from the kitchen fire. The cook explained the enormous job of preparing meals twice a day for up to 600 people and shocked the children with the fact that potatoes hadn’t even been discovered yet!
The children took part in a workshop and learnt about evidence in History and how opinion can be swayed by the facts presented. They were able to get hands on and investigate the artefacts and clothes from Tudor times and had a few giggles whilst trying them on!
